For those of you who would like to make up for missing blog posts:

Write a final reflection on the course material in response to the general question of "so what"? You can think in terms of "so what" for you personally, as an educator, or in terms of the broader implications for the future of education, research and theory. For example, if you are a classroom teacher or educator, how do the ideas, games, and learning principles we discussed relate to how you think about instruction, your students, the use of technology for learning?

Game Review for April 28th

For next week, please write a review of the game you played for class this semester and post the review in the Forum section called "Reviews and Impressions." There are some reviews written by students in prior classes; a couple of good models are the reviews of Fable 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. As I discussed in class, your audience should be students who might take this class in the future, and in addition to describing the game, I'd like you to write about the game's usefulness as an example of the learning principles we've talked about this semester.

On this page you can find a list of their games, and some of them can be played for free. Try "Do I have a Right?" or "Argument Wars," created for Sandra Day O'Connor's Our Courts project.

I just found this article "Parrot AR Drone Turns Real Life into a Video Game" and thought it was quite relevant to our class topic. I wish there was a little more info about the "game play" since all I could tell was that you walk around pretending to shoot things. There's got to be more to it than that, right?

Hello all, If you clicked on the "Login link" and logged in... rest assured that even though it doesn't look like you're logged in, you're logged in. There's some weird caching issue we're sorting through, but in the meantime, the solution is to poke at one of the links on the right ("Recent Posts") and you should get your menus / neat little boxes and whatnot.

Hi all. Sorry for not getting this posted as quickly as I hoped. For this coming week, you have a report to read and a video to watch. The report summarizes the "state of the art" in educational games (at least from the perspective of the authors) and includes some ideas about how such games can be best designed and used.

Hi everyone. As a reminder, we will NOT be meeting f2f next week. Instead, I'd like to plan an online, asynchronous discussion of casual games and learning. I'm giving you a three part assignment:

Part 1: Choose a casual game to play for at least an hour or so, and to serve as a basis for your contribution to our discussion. POST A BRIEF DESCRIPTION AND/OR SCREENSHOTS OF YOUR GAME IN YOUR BLOG. It can be any casual game you choose. If you need ideas, take a look at one or more of the following sites (or check out Eric's blog):
